The decision follows the recommendations issued by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and FIVB and takes into account the measures taken by national authorities in order to deal with the outbreak of the virus as well as concerns raised by at least one of the competing clubs.

At this stage, the above-mentioned decision applies to the following matches:

CEV Champions League Volley

  • Match 5-301: Fenerbahce Opet ISTANBUL (TUR) vs. Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA (ITA) initially scheduled for March 5, 2020.
  • Match 5-305: Savino Del Bene SCANDICCI (ITA) vs. Eczacibasi VitrA ISTANBUL (TUR) initially scheduled for March 4, 2020.

CEV Volleyball Cup

  • Match 4-108: Leo Shoes MODENA (ITA) vs. GFC AJACCIO (FRA) initially scheduled for March 4, 2020.

The CEV continues to monitor the situation and remains ready to take further action.

Any decision on the rescheduling of the postponed matches and potential additional consequences on the calendar of the European Cups shall follow in due time and take into consideration the latest updates on the spreading of the virus as well as on the measures adopted by national and international authorities against it.

The CEV invites all parties to show understanding, a sense of solidarity and cooperation in order to overcome this difficult situation and to find reasonable solutions for all involved.
